SHS volleyball clinches title

CONWAY The Sumter High School varsity volleyball team clinched its fifth-straight Region VI-4A title with a 3-0 win at Conway on Thursday. The Lady Gamecocks won 25-19, 25-17, 25-15 as they improved to 14-5 overall and 9-1 in the region.

Catherine Ortmann had 17 service points five aces and five kills, while Abria Epps had seven kills and three blocks. Ashley Baldwin finished with eight kills and Sutton Watson had 17 assists.

In the junior varsity match, Sumter won 2-0 to move to 9-3 on the season. SHS won 25-15, 25-12.

Robbie Winfield had 12 service points. Lauren Dabbs had three kills.
